Star Spangled Sensation in St Kilda!

Persistent rain didn't keep large crowds away from the all American line-up at our Star Spangled SpecTAPular last Saturday.

Once again we arrived early to decorate and set up (extra early in fact as we now have a whole extra room to decorate). The new Bocce Room was turned into a musical 'rockabilly' room and is a well needed and loved new space to The Local Taphouse. The bocce court was used all day and night which bodes well for the future.

The beer flowed all day (as did the rain!) but it didn't dampen any spirits and the party continued on thanks to the sounds of Stockton Joe and his band who played several fantastic sets and pleased the crowds with an encore or two. There was much dancing and Captain America was even spotted throwing some shapes.

The beers were simply great; a brilliant selection from a range of outstanding US craft breweries. Staff favourite from the day was the Marin Chocolate Airporter, delicious with a punch at 9.5%! But that didn't stop it soon selling out...

As is tradition when each keg is emptied, we ring the bar bells and sure enough as the day turned into night, the bell ringing became ever more frequent!

The food from Chef Jeff and his team was incredible. The Philly Cheesesteak got many fantastic comments but the Key Lime pie was arguably my fave.

A big thanks to everyone who came along and shared the day with us. Thanks also to all the staff who work extra hard on these days and make them what they are with their enthusiasm and creative dress-ups! See the fantastic dress-ups along with the other pics from the day here.

Finally, the biggest thanks of all to the US Department of Agriculture for their support of the event. Their generous sponsorship was used for decorations and to lower the prices of all the beers. Now head out and buy lots of great American beer at The Local BottleStore & Provisions and other great beer stores!
